I want to introduce you to someone who epitomizes exactly the message that Longevity Personal Training represents.
Hannah is 91. In the last 3 years she has undergone a hip replacement and heart surgery. When going through the preliminary tests to determine if she was a candidate for these procedures the doctors told her that due to her health and fitness, she should have no problem recovering successfully from these surgeries. And she did.
I have been training Hannah for 17 years. She had trainers before me, for many years. She has always made her health and fitness a priority. This is what led to her body being able to withstand the stress it went through during these procedures. Procedures that another person who did not make fitness a priority would have struggled with. NOT Hannah.
Below is an interview I conducted with Hannah so that we could share with you her fitness journey and how it has made such a difference for her as far as her quality of life even in what some might consider the twilight years. HA! Some maybe. But NOT Hannah.
Hannah’s Answers to Karl’s Questions
Karl: When did fitness/exercise become a priority to you?
Hannah: I really didn’t start exercising till we moved to Arizona. At that time, I was 61.
Karl: How has being fit helped you as you aged?
Hannah: It enables me to do everything I want to do.
Karl: Do you think you were able to maintain your independence because of it?
Hannah: Absolutely.
Karl: Has your fitness changed over the years? Have you become more fit?
Hannah: Absolutely. It’s the type of thing that if I don’t do it, I miss it. Once I got started, I really got into it and really liked it. I really enjoy strength training. It is fun as well as helpful. I really look forward to my training. My trainer has a lot to do with that.
Karl: Do you have anything to offer to anyone younger who is on the fence about getting into fitness and training.
Hannah: Yeah. Get into it!
Exercise is The Magic Pill
That’s it. As the popular saying goes. It’s a simple program for complicated minds. Don’t over think it. If you’re just starting, start slow and build up. If you’re in a program but it feels stale, or you have just lost interest, change your goals. Maybe even the people that you are working out around. Find a new environment. But don’t walk away from it. Exercise Is The Magic Pill!!!
